  • Fletcher | Cavalier Rescue FL

< back to home Fletcher Adopt Me! Ponte Verda Introducing Fletcher ! This cutie-pie is an 8-year-old neutered Black and Tan boy who was rescued from a shelter. He needed our help urgently and was examined immediately upon rescue and again with his permanent foster family. His original vetting was done by Dr. Pamela Hendrickson at ABCDE Animal Clinic. Fletcher weighs 15.8 pounds and needs to gain no more than one pound; he has severe muscle atrophy in his hind legs. His heart murmur was assessed as a grade 5/6 on the left and a grade 3/6 on the right; he will see cardiology in two weeks. He has five teeth left with periodontal disease, was started on antibiotics and will need dental treatment in the future. Fletcher came into rescue with a very low hematocrit (percentage of total blood volume that is red blood cells). After much testing, his iron deficiency anemia is likely caused by fleas. Prior to arrival in rescue, Fletcher had a history of flea infestation which is now resolved. Results of titer testing are pending. His second visit was done by Dr. Martina Sander at Oceanview Veterinary Hospital in Jacksonville Beach. Fletcher 's hematocrit is higher and he has been started on Pet Tinic supplement to support red blood cell production. His CBC will be checked again in 2-3 weeks. Fletcher is being treated for a left ear infection. Awe, Fletcher is the sweetest little gent and we know his life got sooooo much better by being with us. Feel better soon, Fletcher ! Let's send him a lot of love. xo He is not available for adoption right now, so we can get him healed, happy and healthy... • Emily & Reneé | Cavalier Rescue FL

< back to home Emily & Reneé Donate! Adopted! We’ve seen neglect before. But this… stopped us. Renée came into rescue covered in pounds of matted fur—so severe her ears couldn’t even be examined. Her once silky coat, now holding her hostage, so severe that urine, feces, debris—and fleas—were trapped deep within the matting. The veterinary team couldn’t even obtain a urine sample until after her medical grooming. Three pounds of matted fur was removed! Her back end was soaked with urine and feces. Her nails had curled and begun embedding into her paws. She was walking on her nails…instead of her feet. Her bonded companion, Emily —her lifelong friend—was suffering in silence too. A 12-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, who had gone years without medical care. She arrived with a severe ear infection—so advanced a tube had to be sutured into her ear to drain the infection. Her ears were filled with bacteria and yeast. Her skin is infected. Her eyes were inflamed and untreated. Yet, both of these pups remained gentle, quiet, sweet and calm while they learned their first moments of care, love and help. Two senior dogs. Same home. Same neglect. Severely flea infested. Left to suffer far too long. They are safe now. We will help them and assure these sad seniors are on the road to health and happiness, together. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And, especially, thank you from Emily and Renée. xo 💸 Adoption Donation: $500 together We ask your help in supporting these two beauties.
